Job summary

Del Mar College is seeking a part-time Cake Decorating Instructor to teach assigned courses across multiple times and locations. The instructor will develop and use varied teaching methods to help students meet course outcomes and will maintain professional student relationships.

The role requires five years of related work experience and knowledge of cake decorating methods. A syllabus-guided teaching approach and effective use of instructional technology are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum five (5) years related work experience.
• Ability to plan course instruction based upon approved syllabus/outline provided to insure course content and objectives are met.
• Ability to utilize a variety of teaching styles and methods to accommodate diverse learning styles of students.
• Ability to utilize instructional technologies, including computers, internet resources and other appropriate media in instruction.
• Knowledge of Cake Decorating Profession.

Responsibilities

• Plan course instruction based upon approved syllabus/outline provided to insure course content and objectives are met.
• Utilize a variety of teaching styles and methods to accommodate diverse learning styles of students.
• Utilize instructional technologies, including computers, internet resources and other appropriate media in instruction.
• Maintain daily attendance rosters.
• Input final student grades into WebDMC.
• Submit final hard copies of daily attendance rosters and grade sheets to the Continuing Education Department.
• Introduce students to the basic fundamentals of Cake Decorating including instruction in the basic art of icing a cake, drop flowers, flower decorations, writing, sugar molds, roses, and seasonal cakes.
• Maintain appropriate professional relationships with students, colleagues and the community.
