Job summary

Mid-Iowa Community Action, Inc. is seeking a part-time CACFP-HP Program Specialist to support the USDA CACFP across the Ames area. You will recruit home providers, provide guidance on CACFP regulations and assist with educator workshops in a field role visiting participant homes.

Responsibilities include monitoring compliance, preparing paperwork, and developing educational activities focused on nutrition, sanitation, and active living for families and providers.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Six to twelve months of related work experience providing family child care services/human services OR formal or informal training in child development, child care, or early childhood education.
• 2 year degree in human services, nutrition, early childhood education or related field.
• Bilingual skills (English/Spanish).

Responsibilities

• Recruits new participants for the CACFP.
• Provides support to home providers.
• Introduces providers to USDA regulations regarding CACFP participation.
• Assists with development of education material and provider workshops.
• Audits providers’ monthly menus, attendance records, meal attendance, enrollment forms, income verifications and assists with monthly claims.
• Answers home provider inquiries and returns calls in a timely manner.
• Develops children’s educational activities focusing on sanitation, healthy food choices and activity.
• Completes home visits, paperwork and reports as required.
• Monitors provider compliance with CACFP regulations and initiates corrective action when needed.
