Job summary

The City of Jefferson is seeking a part-time Transit Worker to perform semi-skilled duties in maintaining transit buses and facilities. Responsibilities include exterior washing, interior cleaning, fueling, fluid checks, and delivering replacement vehicles to operators.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid driver's license, and the ability to obtain a class B CDL within 6 months. Shifts run 6:00 a.m.–noon or 1:00 p.m.–7:00 p.m., 20–25 hours weekly.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; experience with light maintenance and large automotive equipment preferred.
• Must possess a valid driver's license and the ability to obtain a class B CDL within 6 months of hire.
• Part-time employees work 20–25 hours per week with morning or afternoon shifts.

Responsibilities

• Washes buses' exterior using automated wash facility and steam cleaners.
• Cleans buses' interiors.
• Fuels and checks fluid levels of transit vehicles.
• Delivers replacement vehicles to operators in route.
• Maintains shop spaces and grounds.
• Performs related tasks as required.
