Job summary

Aphios Corporation, a biotechnology company, is seeking a Part-Time Accountant to support day-to-day accounting and financial operations in a small, entrepreneurial environment. The role will involve working with the Fractional Controller and leadership to maintain accurate financial records in accordance with U.S.

GAAP and audit-ready practices. Experience with Sage is preferred, and NIH/SBIR grant accounting knowledge is highly valuable for this position based in Reading, MA.

Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
• At least 3 years of bookkeeping, accounting or related financial experience.
• Strong working knowledge of general ledger accounting, AP/AR and reconciliations.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
• Strong attention to detail, organization and documentation.
• Ability to work independently and meet recurring financial deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate day-to-day accounting records and general ledger entries.
• Process and monitor accounts payable and accounts receivable.
• Support payroll processing and payroll-related accounting.
• Perform bank, credit card and balance-sheet reconciliations.
• Assist with monthly, quarterly and annual financial close.
• Prepare financial reports and supporting schedules.
• Maintain accounting records in Sage.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and budget-to-actual reporting.
• Maintain organized documentation supporting financial transactions and audits.
• Assist with tax preparation and work with external accountants and auditors.
• Support implementation and maintenance of appropriate accounting procedures and internal controls.
• Assist the Fractional Controller and management with financing, due-diligence and other financial-information requests.
• Support accounting across Aphios Corporation and affiliated entities, as appropriate
