Job summary

City Colleges of Chicago – Truman College's Science Center is seeking a part-time Tutor for General Biology to support students in biology-related courses and help them develop essential study skills.

The tutor will provide one-on-one and small group tutoring, craft personalized plans, and contribute to workshops. A Bachelor's in Biology is required, with Anatomy/Physiology and Microbiology preferred; Saturday/evening availability is highly desired.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Biology or related field.
Ability to tutor General Biology required; Anatomy and Physiology and Microbiology highly preferred.
Saturday and early evening availability highly preferred.
Completion of tutoring certification preferred.
Experience teaching, tutoring, or providing academic support at the post-secondary level is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide academic assistance and tutoring to students on an individual basis.
Tutor students to deepen comprehension of course materials and improve assignment performance.
Craft tutoring plans addressing tutee weaknesses and strengths and build confidence.
Teach learning strategies: study skills, organization, time management, and effective habits.
Create instructional materials and/or workshops; plan workshops for students and staff.
