Job summary

Penn State University is seeking a Part-Time Audio/Visual Technician to support audiovisual needs at Pasquerilla Spiritual Center and Eisenhower Chapel. The role focuses on reliable operation of audio, video, livestreaming, and hybrid meeting technologies for religious services, student meetings, and major university events.

You will train staff and student workers to set up, operate, and troubleshoot systems, and you will work ~10 hours per week during the academic year with flexible scheduling

Qualifications

• Professional training or certification in audio/visual technology, live event production, broadcast technology, or a closely related field is required.
• Demonstrated experience operating professional audiovisual systems in conference, educational, performance, worship, or event environments.
• Strong working knowledge of digital audio systems, microphones, projectors, presentation software, Zoom, livestreaming technologies, and hybrid meeting platforms.
• Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot audiovisual equipment and provide timely technical support.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to train staff and student employees.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities and changing event needs.

Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain, and support audiovisual systems throughout the Pasquerilla Spiritual Center and Eisenhower Chapel.
• Set up, operate, monitor, and secure audiovisual equipment, including sound systems, digital mixers, microphones, projection, livestreaming, cameras, and Zoom-enabled meeting tech.
• Develop and deliver ongoing training for staff and student employees on setup, operation, troubleshooting, and care of audiovisual equipment.
• Create user guides and documentation to improve staff competency and ensure consistent operation.
• Provide on-site audiovisual support for religious services, conferences, weddings, and major events.
• Support hybrid and virtual meetings by managing Zoom, livestreaming, and related software.
• Meet with event sponsors and departments to assess needs and recommend equipment and room configurations.
• Conduct pre-event testing and perform equipment checks prior to scheduled events.
• Troubleshoot equipment failures and coordinate repairs as needed.
• Perform preventative maintenance and manage equipment inventories.
• Suggest upgrades and improvements to enhance capabilities.
• Assist with room setup and event support when audiovisuals are integrated with events.
• Maintain equipment in a safe, clean, and organized condition.
