Job summary

Cox Automotive in Illinois (Matteson) is hiring an Auto Technician - General Service for a part-time, on-site role. You’ll perform light-duty maintenance, oil changes, inspections, and basic vehicle service to support dealership and fleet operations.

Required: 1+ years’ related work experience and a valid driver’s license; preferred: high school diploma or GED. Pays $16.63–$24.90 per hour with potential incentives. No remote work option.

Qualifications

• Ability to drive standard, automatic, and electric vehicles.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Perform light-duty auto technician work at an intermediate level.
• Gain familiarity with auto maintenance concepts and practices.
• Perform auto maintenance duties including oil and filter changes, fuel filter changes, transmission flush, spark plug replacement, and vehicle inspections.
• Perform battery testing, maintenance, and repair of starting and charging electrical systems.
• Perform various repairs including tires, safety inspections, and interior/exterior components.
• Diagnose and repair brake systems, steering and suspension systems.
• Evacuate and recharge air conditioning systems.
• Perform maintenance on equipment and use approved vendors to obtain parts.
• May upfit new vehicles with necessary equipment.
• Comply with procedures and regulations regarding recyclables, fluids, tires, and waste disposal.
