Job summary

Wasatch Behavioral Health in Orem, Utah, seeks a Part-Time Autism Aide for the GIANT Steps Preschool Program. Earn $17.50–$22.17/hour and help preschoolers with autism build communication, social, behavioral, and daily living skills in a structured classroom setting.

Schedule is Tue-Fri, 9:00 AM–3:30 PM. You will support therapists and families, implement individualized plans, and use ABA, TEACCH, PECS, and related strategies to create a safe, positive learning environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED required.
• One year of post-high school experience in social work or related field; equivalent work experience may be considered.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Patience, empathy, and professionalism when working with young children.
• Ability to follow established guidelines and adapt to changing needs.
• Experience with children or individuals with special needs preferred.
• Positive attitude, reliability, and willingness to learn.
• Spanish speakers may qualify for a wage increase.

Responsibilities

• Support preschool-aged children with autism during classroom and therapeutic activities.
• Assist with implementing individualized treatment and behavior support plans under the direction of the clinical team.
• Use evidence-based strategies such as Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), TEACCH, PECS, social stories, and naturalistic teaching techniques.
• Encourage communication, social interaction, emotional regulation, and daily living skills through structured activities and play.
• Monitor client progress and document observations to support treatment goals.
• Collaborate with therapists, teachers, and families to provide consistent, high-quality care.
• Help maintain a safe, structured, and positive learning environment where children can thrive.

Employment at Wasatch Behavioral Health is contingent upon successful completion of a drug screen, motor vehicle record review and criminal background check. After hire you must complete and receive a Criminal Background Clearance (BCI) from Utah State Office of Licensing. Upon receipt of a conditional offer of employment in the position, you must provide an official copy of licensure or certification.
