Job summary

Wasatch Behavioral Health is seeking a Part-Time Autism Aide for the GIANT Steps Preschool Program in Orem, Utah. You will support preschoolers with autism in structured classroom and therapeutic activities, under guidance from therapists and educators.

Pay ranges from $17.50 to $22.17 per hour, DOE, with Tuesday–Friday, 9:00 AM–3:30 PM schedules. The role emphasizes building communication, social, behavioral, and daily living skills in a supportive team environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• At least one year of post-high school experience in social work or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
• Ability to communicate clearly and collaborate with therapists, educators, and families.
• Patience, empathy, and professionalism when working with young children.

Responsibilities

• Support preschool-aged children with autism during classroom and therapeutic activities.
• Assist with implementing individualized treatment and behavior support plans under clinical guidance.
• Use evidence-based strategies such as ABA, TEACCH, PECS, and naturalistic teaching.
• Encourage communication, social interaction, emotional regulation, and daily living skills.
• Monitor progress and document observations to support treatment goals.
• Collaborate with therapists, teachers, and families to provide consistent care.

What You'll Do As An Autism Aide

• Support preschool-aged children with autism during classroom and therapeutic activities.

• Use evidence-based strategies such as Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), TEACCH, PECS, social stories, and naturalistic teaching techniques.
• Encourage communication, social interaction, emotional regulation, and daily living skills through structured activities and play.
• Monitor client progress and document observations to support treatment goals.
• Collaborate with therapists, teachers, and families to provide consistent, high-quality care.
• Help maintain a safe, structured, and positive learning environment where children can thrive.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED
• One year of post-high school experience in social work or a related field. Equivalent work experience may be considered in place of this requirement.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
• Patience, empathy, and professionalism when working with young children
• Ability to follow established guidelines and adapt to changing needs
• Experience with children or individuals with special needs preferred
• Positive attitude, reliability, and willingness to learn
• Spanish speakers may qualify for a wage increase

Employment at Wasatch Behavioral Health is contingent upon successful completion of a drug screen, motor vehicle record review and criminal background check. After hire you must complete and receive a Criminal Background Clearance (BCI) from Utah State Office of Licensing. Upon receipt of a conditional offer of employment in the position, you must provide an official copy of licensure or certification.

Salary: $17.50 - $22.17 per hour
