Job summary

Gila County Community College District is seeking a part-time adjunct faculty member for the Payson Campus to teach astronomy courses. The role may include teaching introductory physics and higher-level mathematics, with classes delivered in-person, online, or hybrid formats.

Responsibilities include operating the observatory, maintaining attendance/grades, and participating in required trainings and college meetings.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Astronomy, Math, or Physics is required.
• Ability to pass a background screening and obtain a Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card.
• Credentialing guidelines must be met for the instructional area.

Responsibilities

• Teach astronomy, introductory physics, and high-level mathematics in-person, online, or hybrid.
• Operate the Richard F. Caris Observatory for student use in classes.
• Teach 1–9 classroom contact hours per week as per official outlines and college catalog.
• Attend Fall/Spring convocation, planning activities, staff meetings, and continuing education as directed.
• Provide one-on-one tutoring and student engagement guidance.
• Serve on college committees or sponsor a club when approved.
