Job summary

Alexandria Bay Baptist Church in Northern New York is seeking a Part-Time Associate Pastor to provide spiritual leadership, biblical teaching, and pastoral care for a small congregation of about 40–50 members. This position offers the opportunity to transition to Senior Pastor after about one year.

Ordination and a Christian ministry degree or seminary training are preferred but not required. Starting salary is approximately $20,000 annually, increasing to about $30,000 upon promotion.

Qualifications

• Mature Christian faith consistent with pastoral qualifications in 1 Timothy 3:1–7 and Titus 1:5–9.
• Ability to teach and communicate biblical truth clearly.
• Compassionate, approachable, and able to relate to people of all ages.
• Experience in church leadership, teaching, or ministry; formal theological education is helpful but not required.
• Willingness to work collaboratively with church leadership and volunteers.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver biblically sound sermons for Sunday morning worship services.
• Lead Wednesday evening Bible study, fostering spiritual growth and engagement.
• Provide pastoral care and counseling to members and families, including hospital and home visits.
• Officiate at weddings, funerals, and special services as requested and per our constitution and bylaws.
• Work collaboratively with church leadership to set vision, goals, and priorities.
• Attend and participate in church business meetings and leadership team meetings.
• Support and encourage volunteer leaders and ministry teams.
• Welcome and follow up with visitors and new attendees.
• Encourage outreach and community engagement.
