Job summary

Bluegrass Council of the Blind in Lexington, Kentucky is hiring an Assistive Technology Training Specialist for a part-time, 10–15 hour per week role. The position trains adults who are blind or low vision to use Freedom Scientific software including JAWS and ZoomText to increase independence.

Ideal candidates have strong JAWS/ZoomText skills, prior teaching or one-on-one training experience, good communication, and willingness to obtain Freedom Scientific certification.

Qualifications

• Proficiency with JAWS and ZoomText.
• Experience teaching or providing one-on-one technology training.
• Strong communication skills and ability to adapt instruction.
• Freedom Scientific certification or willingness to obtain certification before hire.
• Knowledge of Windows computers and MS Office and browsers.
• Knowledge of Apple accessibility features (VoiceOver) a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized training to adults who are blind or have low vision.
• Train clients to use Freedom Scientific software to increase independence.
