Job summary

Point Quest, Inc. Assistive Technology Specialist sought to support students with disabilities in a school-based setting in Hayward, CA. This part-time role follows a school-year schedule with evenings, weekends, and school breaks off, offering $50-$60/hr. Work with a multidisciplinary team of educators and specialists.

You will conduct AT assessments, recommend devices and accommodations, and train staff and families, aligning AT services with each student’s IEP goals.

Qualifications

• Assistive Technology Applications Certificate.
• Degreed in Special Education, SLP, OT, or AT.
• School-based experience preferred.
• Knowledge of AT tools including AAC devices, switch-access devices, screen readers, and educational software.
• DOJ/FBI Livescan clearance; eligible to work in the US.
• Strong communication and training skills; able to collaborate across teams.

Responsibilities

• Assessments & Recommendations: Conduct comprehensive AT assessments and recommend devices and accommodations.
• IEP Participation: Attend IEP meetings and present assessment findings.
• Training & Consultation: Train staff and families on AT tools; collaborate with SLPs, OTs, teachers, and psychologists.
• Device Support & Inventory: Maintain and troubleshoot AT equipment; manage inventory.
• Accessible Materials: Develop accessible instructional materials (digital texts, modified worksheets).
• Data Collection & Documentation: Maintain usage logs and progress data.
• Professional Growth: Stay informed on emerging AT tools and practices.
