Job summary

Child Development Schools is seeking an Assistant Teacher to support a warm, engaging classroom. You will work with the Lead Teacher to deliver age-appropriate activities, encourage curiosity, and create a safe, welcoming learning environment for young children.

You will observe and document progress, communicate with families, and help with daily attendance and reports. This role emphasizes character, reliability, and a commitment to children's growth.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to pass a background check.
  • Genuine care for children and a commitment to safety and well-being.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships with families.
  • Physical ability to meet the demands of working with young children.
  • A degree or coursework in Early Childhood Education is a plus.

Responsibilities

Your role

As an Assistant Teacher at Child Development Schools, you will help create a classroom filled with discovery, creativity, learning, and joy. Working alongside your Lead Teacher, you will support young learners through meaningful experiences that encourage curiosity, confidence, kindness, and growth. From hands‑on activities and storytelling to everyday learning moments, you will help shape a warm and welcoming environment where children feel safe, supported, and excited to explore the world around them.

What your day looks like
  • Support the Lead Teacher in delivering age‑appropriate lessons and activities for the classroom
  • Help maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom that meets licensing and ratio requirements
  • Engage directly with children during activities, meals, transitions, and outdoor time
  • Observe children and share developmental notes with the Lead Teacher
  • Build relationships with families through warm, consistent daily communication
  • Assist with classroom documentation including attendance and daily reports
Pay and benefits

Pay: $11.00–$14.00 per hour, based on experience and education.

Requirements
