Job summary

Big Lots is seeking motivated individuals to support our Stores as we provide essential products at great values to the communities we serve. As an Assistant Manager you will deliver excellent customer service and assist the Store Manager with overall store operations to achieve company goals.

You will help hire, train and develop team members, supervise daily activities, and ensure a secure, clean, and productive store environment in a fast-paced retail setting.

Qualifications

• Prefer prior retail and management experience.
• Effective communication, interpersonal, and written skills.
• Ability to regularly lift up to 50lbs and perform active duties as described.
• Ability to work in a high energy, team environment.
• Flexible, full-time or part-time schedule including days, evenings, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Assist with hiring, training and development of store team members as delegated by the Store Manager.
• Assist with all store functions and day-to-day store activities as directed by the Store Manager.
• Open/close procedures in the absence of the Store Manager.
• Protect and secure store assets, including cash.
• Maintain stockroom and sales floor to company standards.
• Direct supervisory responsibility for hourly Team Members when Store Manager is not on site.
• Process Corporate directives and assist with merchandise receipts/returns.

Summary

Big Lots is seeking motivated individuals to support our Stores as we provide essential products at great values to the communities we serve.

As a Big Lots Assistant Manager you will be responsible for providing excellent customer service to our customers and supporting the Store Manager with the overall operation of the store to achieve company deliverables.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist with the hiring, training and development of store team members as delegated by the Store Manager
• Assist with all store functions and day-to-day store activities as directed by the Store Manager
• Able to perform all opening and closing procedures in the absence of the Store Manager
• Assist the Store Manager in protecting and securing all company assets, including store cash.
• Adhere to all policies and procedures including safety guidelines.
• Maintain a professional and friendly environment with customers, subordinates, and supervisors.
• Maintain all areas of the store, including the stockroom and sales floor, to company standards to include recovery.
• When the Store Manager is not on the premises, direct supervisory responsibility for all hourly Team Members.
• Process all SSC Corporate directives.
• Assist the Store Manager on the receipt and return of DSD merchandise.
• Assist Store Manager in the management of freight flow.
• Meet or exceed productivity standards.
• Assist the Store Manager in ordering and stocking all merchandise needs.
• Assist the Store Manager in maintaining stockroom organization.
• Assist the Store Manager in ensuring that the sales floor is sales effective daily.
• Assist the Store Manager in planning and implementing all directives in the Store Operations Weekly Bulletin.

Qualifications

• Prefer prior retail and management experience.
• Effective communication, interpersonal, and written skills
• Ability to regularly lift up to 50lbs from floor level to above shoulder height; must be able to meet demands of frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, twisting, and repetitive lifting, with or without reasonable accommodation.
