Big 5 Sporting Goods is seeking an Assistant Manager Trainee for the Cathedral City store. This part-time entry-level role provides hands-on training and leadership exposure, with a defined program to advance to higher management levels.

You will join a fast-paced team that values energetic, sports-minded individuals with strong customer service backgrounds. The position emphasizes daily duties from customer service and merchandising to opening/closing procedures, with a clear path for promotion

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Must possess High School diploma, GED, or High School Equivalency Exam.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service and assist customers throughout the store.
• Answer phone calls and respond to customer inquiries.
• Recommend products and suggest add-on sales.
• Merchandising and compliance of all company policies.
• Setting promotional signage.
• Checking and retrieving merchandise from stockroom as needed.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked sales floor.
• Assist with store opening and closing procedures.
• Training newly hired associates.
• Directing sales and cashier associates throughout the store.
• Inventory control and enforcement of loss prevention policies.
