Job summary

The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center in Detroit, MI is seeking an Assistant Kitchen Supervisor to oversee beneficiaries and manage inventory, menus, orders, and canteen operations. This role supports the rehabilitation program through efficient kitchen management and strong leadership.

The position is part-time (25 hours/week) with a pay rate of $18–$23 per hour. The role requires ServSafe and allergen training, a high school diploma, and kitchen management experience is preferred.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Train beneficiaries on kitchen safety and compliance protocols.
• Supervise daily work therapy performance, including cooking and cleaning.
• Provide regular feedback and direction to beneficiaries.
• Ensure compliance with Health Department policies.
• Create and update menus using Cycle Menu Management System.
• Maximize use of donated goods.
• Maintain kitchen and canteen inventories.
• Generate timely orders based on stock, cost, and needs.
• Source and coordinate food donations.
• Monitor canteen sales and card tracking.
• Maintain kitchen log communications.
• Execute Health Department policies.
• Prepare for regular inspections.
• Coordinate with Kitchen Supervisor on all operations.
