Job summary

The Salvation Army is seeking an Assistant Kitchen Supervisor at our Adult Rehabilitation Center in Detroit. You will oversee beneficiaries in the kitchen while managing inventory, menus, ordering, and canteen operations.

Responsibilities include training, monitoring performance, and ensuring Health Department compliance. This role offers growth through professional development and a mission-driven team environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • ServSafe and Allergen training certifications required.
  • Kitchen management experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Train beneficiaries on Kitchen Safety and Compliance protocols.
  • Supervise daily work therapy performance, including cooking and cleaning.
  • Provide regular feedback and direction to beneficiaries.
  • Ensure compliance with Health Department policies.
  • Create and update menus using Cycle Menu Management System.
  • Maximize use of donated goods.
  • Maintain kitchen and canteen inventories.
  • Generate timely orders based on stock, cost, and needs.
  • Source and coordinate food donations.
  • Monitor canteen sales and card tracking.
  • Maintain kitchen log communications.
  • Execute Health Department policies.
  • Prepare for regular inspections.
  • Coordinate with Kitchen Supervisor on all operations.

Key Responsibilities

Supervision & Training

  • Train beneficiaries on Kitchen Safety and Compliance protocols
