Located in the Greater Orlando area, Freedom Ride provides therapeutic horseback riding and related activities for children and adults with disabilities, veterans, and those with mental and behavioral challenges in Central Florida. The organization focuses on enriching participants' lives by promoting physical, emotional, and social growth through equine-assisted programs. Team members and volunteers work together to deliver safe, compassionate, and empowering experiences for riders and their families.

Role Description

The Part-Time Assistant Barn Manager will support daily barn operations, ensuring a safe and well-organized environment for horses, riders, volunteers, and staff. Responsibilities include assisting with feeding, watering, grooming, and general horse care, as well as mucking stalls, maintaining clean aisles and tack areas, and monitoring horse health and behavior. The role also involves preparing horses for lessons, coordinating with instructors, helping oversee volunteers in the barn, and following safety and barn management protocols. This is a part-time, on-site position based in Greater Orlando, requiring regular presence at the facility and occasional evening or weekend hours depending on program needs.

Qualifications
  • Experience with basic horse care and barn duties, including feeding, grooming, stall cleaning, and monitoring equine health and safety.
  • Ability to follow and enforce barn safety procedures, including safe handling of horses and proper use of tack and equipment.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills to coordinate daily tasks, and project coordination and completion.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with staff, volunteers, riders, and families in a respectful, inclusive manner.
  • Physical ability to perform barn work, including lifting, carrying, and working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Prior experience in therapeutic riding programs, adaptive sports, or working with individuals with disabilities is highly beneficial.
  • Reliable transportation to the Greater Orlando facility and flexibility to work part-time schedules, including weekends.
