Job summary

The Programming Assistant at the Shubert Theatre, New Haven, CT, supports CAPA's Programming Team with regular programming duties and research. The role is up to two days per week, totaling 8-10 hours weekly, with additional hours per show.

The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and eager to learn about live entertainment programming, contracts, calendars, and administrative processes while building relationships with agents and artists.

Qualifications

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret contracts and event riders.
• Understanding budgeting and the ability to read and analyze basic budgets.

Responsibilities

• Assist with regular programming responsibilities: Calendar upkeep/maintenance; Show File updating; Update programming tracking documents with box office data; Update deal status and contract status notes as deals progress.
• Assist in programming research: Prospective show research.
• Assist in office administrative tasks: Filing; Agent communication; Programming notetaking.
• Assist in event set up, execution, or tear down as requested.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Theatre/Arts Administration

1-3 years theatre/arts experience

Strong written and verbal communication

Budgeting basics

MS Office proficiency
