Job summary

The Spire School in Stamford, CT seeks an Art Teacher for a part-time, 10-month position. You will design engaging instruction for grades 6–12, align with Connecticut standards, differentiate for diverse learners, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to support each student’s growth and success.

Deliver adaptive lessons, maintain progress documentation, and foster a welcoming classroom that encourages creativity and self-expression through the arts.

Qualifications

  • Plan and deliver engaging art instruction aligned with Connecticut State Standards, incorporating art history and diverse artists, movements, and styles.
  • Teach techniques and media including drawing, graphite, charcoal, acrylic and watercolor painting, color theory, composition, and mixed-media projects.
  • Differentiate lessons and projects based on students’ individual abilities, interests, learning profiles, and social-emotional needs.
  • Create and maintain an organized, welcoming, and visually engaging classroom with clear expectations and appropriate structure.
  • Monitor, document, and report student progress while contributing relevant information to the IEP and progress-monitoring processes.
  • Build positive relationships with students and help them develop confidence, independence, perseverance, and self-expression through the arts.
  • Collaborate closely with teachers, clinicians, school counselors, school leadership, and families to support student success.
  • Participate as an active member of The Spire School community and perform other duties as assigned by school leadership.

Part-Time, 10-Month Position | The Spire School | Stamford, CT

As an Art Teacher at The Spire School, you will design and deliver engaging art instruction for students in grades 6–12 with diverse learning profiles and social-emotional needs. You’ll help students strengthen their artistic skills, creativity, confidence, and self-expression through a variety of techniques and media. In this role, you will create a structured and welcoming classroom, adapt instruction to meet individual needs, and collaborate with our multidisciplinary team to support each student’s growth and success.

What You’ll Need
