Job summary

The Pinnacle School in Stamford, CT seeks a High School Special Education Teacher to deliver engaging, data-driven instruction in a supportive setting. The ideal candidate will personalize instruction for students with diverse learning needs using evidence-based practices and collaborative planning.

You'll develop, monitor, and implement IEPs, participate in PPT meetings, and continuously collect progress data to guide instruction.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in special education, education, mathematics, or a related field.
  • Valid Connecticut state endorsement (165): Special Education: Comprehensive (Grades K-12), or (029): Mathematics (Grades 7-12), or eligibility for certification.
  • Minimum of two years experience teaching special education populations with language-based learning differences.
  • Familiar with the IEP process and collection of progress monitoring data.
  • Commitment to help children of all abilities reach their full potential; strong communication and collaboration.

  • Differentiate instruction to accommodate students' learning styles, abilities, and current achievement levels.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs with Present Levels of Performance, measurable goals, and objectives.
  • Participate as an active member of the Planning & Placement Team (PPT).
  • Utilize a variety of instructional strategies and learning principles to help students achieve goals.
  • Collect, analyze, and maintain progress monitoring data to inform instructional decisions.

What You’ll Need
  • Bachelor’s degree in special education, education, mathematics, or a related field
  • Valid Connecticut state endorsement (165): Special Education: Comprehensive (Grades K-12), or (029): Mathematics (Grades 7-12), or eligibility for certification
  • Minimum of two (2) years experience teaching special education student populations with language-based learning differences
  • Familiar with the IEP process and collection of progress monitoring data
  • Create and maintain an orderly and aesthetic learning environment that accounts for students social, emotional, and executive functioning need
  • Commitment to help children of all abilities reach their full potential
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a collaborative, enthusiastic style to fit with our small-team environment

  • Collect, analyze, and maintain progress monitoring data to inform instructional decisions
