Job summary

Yosemite Community College District invites applications for a Part-Time Instructor of Art at Modesto Junior College for the 2026-2027 academic year. The role supports the School of Arts, Performance, & the Humanities and may include online, evening, or weekend classes in ceramics, design, drawing, painting, and sculpture.

The successful candidate will promote equitable teaching, contribute to curriculum development, and participate in department activities.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: Master’s in fine arts, art, or art history OR Bachelor’s in any of the above AND Master’s in humanities OR the equivalent (NOTE: Masters in fine arts refers to master’s in the subject matter of fine arts)
Equivalency procedure available for applicants who do not directly meet listed qualifications.
Knowledge of and ability to appraise diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
Sensitivity to the needs and challenges associated with the diverse student population.

Responsibilities

Teach lower division Art courses (ceramics, design, drawing, painting, sculpture, and related areas).
Advance equitable student learning through exemplary instruction in accordance with course outlines.
Inform students of course requirements, evaluation procedures, and attendance requirements.
Prepare and grade class assignments and examinations; communicate student progress.
Maintain attendance and other records according to policies and deadlines.
Develop and assess student-learning outcomes; use results for improvement.
Engage in professional development and stay current in subject area and pedagogy.
