Job summary

State of South Carolina seeks a vigilant Campus Security Officer in Spartanburg to patrol campus grounds, monitor facilities, and protect students, staff, and property. You will coordinate with campus security teams and respond to incidents to maintain a safe environment.

The role requires 21+ years old, SC driver’s license, and ability to operate security equipment; a background check is mandatory. Equal opportunity employer and benefits are provided.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years of age by the date of hire.
• Must have a valid South Carolina driver's license and the ability to operate all equipment in the campus safety vehicle.
• Criminal background check required for hire.
• Education: High School Diploma or G.E.D equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Routinely patrol campus and other properties under jurisdiction on foot, motor vehicles, or other authorized transportation; watch for unauthorized persons, suspicious or criminal activities, disturbances, and violations.
• Secure (lock and unlock) campus facilities per directives; conduct safety checks and patrols of all buildings and campus grounds.
• Observe and report safety hazards to appropriate personnel and departments.
• Observe weather conditions on and around campus property and report dangerous or unusual weather-related activity to management for timely response.
• Respond to all emergencies and disasters on campus.
• Enforce department and college policies and regulations related to safety and security, including applicable state and federal laws on campus property and within jurisdiction.
• Enforce traffic and parking regulations within Spartanburg Community College jurisdiction; assist with traffic control, signage, cones and barricades.
• Conduct arrests and issue trespasses according to policies and SLED regulations.
• Investigate complaints and violations of college policy and South Carolina law; may view camera footage, interview witnesses, handle evidence, and write incident reports.
