Job summary

The City of Carlsbad is seeking a part-time Aquatics Instructor to join the Parks & Recreation Department year-round. Under the supervision of the Aquatic Supervisor, you will organize, lead and teach American Red Cross swim lessons from Parent/Child to Learn to Swim Level Six and promote safety across programs.

Required is a current American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certificate; three months’ swim-instructor experience is preferred; applicants must interact professionally with

• Three months’ swim instructor experience preferred.
• Ability to interact with the public professionally.

Responsibilities

• Teach American Red Cross swim lessons from Parent/Child to Learn to Swim Level Six.
• Promote participation and provide information on available programs; enforce safety rules.
• Rescue swimmers in distress and render first aid.
• Assist in events and maintain aquatic facilities.
