The Jewish Community Center of Greater KC is seeking a part-time lifeguard to ensure patron safety at its aquatic facilities and provide high-quality customer service.

This year-round role requires lifeguard training, First Aid, and CPR/AED, and it supports a 5am opening schedule with occasional summer weekends. A starting pay of $16 per hour and a free individual membership are offered.

Qualifications

• Lifeguard Training required.
• First Aid certification required.
• CPR & AED Pro certification required.
• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• Pass lifeguard pre-employment practical skills test and participate in in-service trainings.

Responsabilités

• Follows and enforces all rules throughout the Aquatics Facilities.
• Maintains surveillance of Members; acts to secure safety in emergencies.
• Completes daily shift paperwork.
• Performs maintenance and cleaning duties.
• Swim 1000 yards each week.
• Attend mandatory in-service trainings monthly (fall/winter) and twice monthly in summer.

Description

Under general supervision, this professional employee position ensures the safety of patrons at The J's aquatic facilities by preventing and responding to emergencies. The position of lifeguard requires excellent interpersonal skills and a high standard of customer service. This position is active year round.

Schedule

• Part-time up to 15 hours per week.
• M-F, part-time hours between 5am and 3pm, plus occasional weekends, especially during summer.

Benefits

• $16/hr to start, returning guards rates increase yearly - must consistently work opening 5am shifts.

Responsibilities

• Follows and enforces all rules throughout the Aquatics Facilities
• Maintains constant surveillance of Members in the facility; acts immediately and appropriately to secure safety of Members in the event of emergency
• Completes the appropriate daily paperwork during the shift
• Performs various maintenance and cleaning duties
• Swim 1000 yards each week
• Attend the one mandatory in-service training scheduled for each month during the fall/winter and two mandatory in-service trainings scheduled for each month during the summer
• Performs additional job-related duties as assigned

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to lift up to 50lbs
• Able to complete the LG pre-course skills: 300 swim, 20 yrd brick test, 2 minutes of treading
• Must be able to sit/stand for extended periods of time
• Good vision to surveil assigned zones and identify patrons in need of assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
