Job summary

Carnegie Mellon University in Silicon Valley, CA, seeks a Teaching Assistant (TA) for Fall 2026 to support the course and instructor on an hourly, part-time basis. Previous CMU students preferred, but industry experience in software development and project management (minimum 4 years) will be considered.

• Combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Assist the instructor in providing an effective learning experience for students enrolled in the course.
• Attend all class meetings for one section each week, for the full duration of the semester.
• Manage course activity online in Canvas, including supervising student submissions and ensuring structure and best practices are followed.
• Review student drafts and final assignments, providing actionable feedback, notes, scores, and corrections as appropriate.
• Hold office hours for 90 minutes per week to assist students as needed.
• Clarify instructions for assignments for students via office hours, email, or Canvas discussions.
• Meet with students and teams for additional explanation and guidance on the assigned work.
• Other duties as assigned.
