Homes for the Homeless, Inc. invites a passionate part-time Afterschool Youth Worker to join our Families with Children facility located in the Jamaica area of Queens, NY.

You will support an afterschool program serving children from Kindergarten through High School and help create a welcoming learning environment. As a Youth Worker you will engage students in art, games, and homework help, collaborate with staff, and participate in trainings and events.

Formación

• Experience working with children in a group context.
• Ability to communicate respectfully and cooperate with team.
• Willingness to cover occasional evening and weekend events.

Responsabilidades

• Ensure the safety of all children in the classroom and on field trips.
• Engage children in art projects, games, performances, sports, and enrichment activities.
• Assist students with homework assignments.
• Serve as a positive role model.
• Work in a team and help the Group Leader develop lessons, events, holiday parties and performances.
• Attend trainings and staff meetings.
• Provide schedule flexibility, including coverage for occasional evening & weekend trips/events as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
