Job summary

The Colorado LiftED Foundation is seeking a Part-Time Youth Instructor to lead after-school and summer sessions for grades 1-8, designing lessons and supporting students' academic, social, and emotional growth in Denver.

You will manage a caseload, collaborate with LiftED Horizons, and engage families while coordinating with local community partners to advance youth equity and opportunity.

Qualifications

  • At least two years' experience with elementary or middle school students.
  • Experience with lesson planning and execution; knowledge of Social-Emotional Learning (SEL).
  • Belief that all youth can succeed.
  • Fosters equity, inclusion, and belonging in organizational culture.
  • Experience working with Denver Metro community partners.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Spanish bilingual is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead in-person learning sessions for youth in after-school and summer programming, using curriculum-based lessons and activities.
  • Participate in regular coaching and feedback sessions with the Site Leader and Assistant Site Leader to ensure enrichment program quality and culturally responsive practices.
  • Input and review youth data to recognize trends and inform targeted interventions.
  • Assist with youth and family recruitment, enrollment, and retention processes.
  • Engage families through bi-weekly check-ins, engagement activities, and home visits to foster relationships.

About the Position

The Youth Instructor is a key member of LiftED Futures, the youth program of the Colorado LiftED Foundation (CLF). Leading our program opportunities for youth in grades 1-8, this position supports academic, social, and emotional growth through the design and delivery of lessons derived from our robust program curriculum.

This person serves as a vital advocate for all youth and families in the program, manages a dedicated caseload, and reports to the Site Leader at their assigned site.

Key Responsibilities
Youth Academic & Emotional Wellness Development
  • Program Facilitation: Lead in-person learning sessions for youth in after-school and summer programming, utilizing lessons and activities based on CLF's specific curriculum.
  • Coaching & Feedback: Participate in regular coaching and feedback sessions with the Site Leader and Assistant Site Leader to ensure the successful execution of enrichment programs and the implementation of culturally responsive and trauma-informed care practices.
  • Data Analysis: Input and review youth data consistently to recognize trends and inform targeted interventions.
College & Career Development and Systems Advocacy
  • Culture Alignment: Support a site culture driven by career aspirations and college exposure.
  • Youth Advocacy: Collaborate with our LiftED Horizons (Emotional Wellness) team to fulfill individual need requests for youth and families (e.g., food, rent assistance, medical support).
  • Family Advocacy: Support strong family involvement through a minimum of bi-weekly check-ins, engagement activities, and home visits to foster deep relationships and communication.
  • Organizational Advocacy: Serve as a community resource to advocate for values and issues aligned with the Foundation’s mission.
Other Duties
  • Recruitment & Retention: Assist with youth and family recruitment, enrollment, and retention processes.
  • Relationship Building: Prioritize building strong, healthy relationships with and among youth.
  • Team Participation: Participate in all-staff training, meetings, and foundation events.
Skills and Qualifications
  • At least two years of experience working with elementary or middle school-aged children.
  • Experience with lesson planning and execution; solid understanding of Social-Emotional Learning (SEL).
  • An unwavering belief that all youth can achieve and be successful.
  • A record of accomplishment in contributing to an organizational culture that fosters equity, inclusion, and a true sense of belonging.
  • Experience working with community partners in the Denver Metro area.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Language: Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
Requirements
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Flexibility to work until 6:00 PM on weeknights.
  • Flexibility to work weekends and special events as needed.
  • Ability to pass a comprehensive criminal background check.
    Compensation & Benefits
    • Employment Status: Part-Time/Non-Exempt, up to 25 hours per week
    • Compensation: $23 - $25 per hour
    • Benefits: Paid Holidays and Birthday
