Job summary

The YMCA of Florida's First Coast is seeking an Operation Hero Mentor in Fleming Island, FL. You will supervise a group of 8-15 school-age children in the Operation Hero program, delivering tutoring, guidance and support under the Program Coordinator's supervision.

Hours are Monday through Friday, 2:30pm–6:00pm. You will work with staff and volunteers to foster a safe, inclusive environment and implement weekly lesson plans while maintaining strong communication with parents and school personnel.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• DCF 40 hours training preferred.
• 1–2 years related experience preferred.
• Military affiliation preferred.
• Minimum age of 21 may apply.
• YMCA certifications per state requirements.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and implement the Operation Hero tutorial and counseling program.
• Provide assistance and maintain regular communication with the Program Coordinator.
• Lead and supervise volunteers; maintain professional relationships with staff, parents, volunteers and participants.
• Review and be familiar with weekly lesson plans prior to implementation.
• Maintain an organized, safe and clean program space; manage supplies.
• Complete attendance, weekly reports, supply requests, incident reports, behavior logs and lesson plans.
• Respond in writing to suggestions/complaints within 24 hours.
• Distribute and collect participant/parent questionnaires and surveys.
• Attend all staff meetings and in-service trainings.
• May work hours outside normal schedule for training or events.
• Apply YMCA policies including safety and abuse prevention.
