Job summary

Metropolitan Family Service seeks a part-time SUN Activity Leader at HB Lee Elementary in Portland to design, plan, and teach afterschool activities for groups of 12–16 students. You will work under the SUN Site Manager and collaborate with school staff to provide a safe, engaging learning environment.

Prior experience with elementary students and lesson planning is essential. The role emphasizes inclusivity, teamwork, and adherence to program policies, with events scheduled Mon-Thu 2:00-5:00pm

Qualifications

• Experience in teaching children and creating lesson plans.
• Desire and ability to work with children in enriching, positive, safe settings.
• Independent, self-motivated, creative and resourceful.
• Excellent organization and interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and teach engaging, age-appropriate lessons with ties to academics, recreation and/or the arts.
• Supervise groups of 12-16 students during activities and transitions.
• Record and submit student attendance daily and maintain class decorum.
• Maintain classroom and school rules to ensure safety and order.
• Communicate with the SUN Site Manager about student progress and needed support.
