Job summary

Metropolitan Family Service is seeking an Afterschool Activity Leader for the SUN program at Hollydale Elementary in Gresham, OR. The role is part-time, temporary, and supports afterschool activities in arts, sports, academics, and STEM for groups of 12-16 students.

Under supervision, you will design, plan, and teach engaging lessons, coordinate with school staff and the SUN Site Manager, and ensure a safe, inclusive learning environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in teaching children and creating lesson plans.
• Desire and ability to work with children in enriching, safe settings.
• Independent, self-motivated, creative and resourceful individual.
• Excellent organization and interpersonal communication skills.
• Cooperative, team-oriented mindset and willingness to ask questions.

Responsibilities

• Develop and teach engaging, age-appropriate lessons with ties to academics, recreation and/or the arts during the afterschool hours.
• Supervise groups of 12-16 students while maintaining school-appropriate class decorum.
• Supervise groups during meals, recess, bathroom breaks, and transitions.
• Record and report student attendance daily.
• Maintain classroom and school rules to ensure student safety.
• Communicate with the SUN Site Manager about student progress and needs.
• Maintain positive relationships with students, families, staff, and custodians.
• Follow school and agency policies and protect student confidentiality.
