Job summary

Richmond Middle School seeks a part-time Crossing Guard for afternoon/dismissal duty in Hanover, New Hampshire. The role runs 2:45-3:15 p.m. (2:45-3:15 p.m. on Wednesdays) with a pay rate of $25.00/hour; shifts shorter than an hour are paid at the same rate. Start date is immediate and the position remains open until filled.

The Crossing Guard will help students cross streets safely and manage traffic in school zones, reporting to the Principal or Designee to ensure safe dismissal.

Qualifications

• Must complete crossing guard training prior to the first work day.
• Training will be organized and offered by the District
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to enforce instructions with firmness and effectiveness.
• Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe environment for students walking to and from school.
• Stop vehicles to allow students to cross at specific locations.
• Give understandable signals and direction to regulate the flow of vehicular and pedestrian traffic and use judgment in those duties to avoid unnecessary traffic tie-ups and to safeguard the students.
