Job summary

Sandy Spring Friends School in Sandy Spring, MD, seeks an Assistant Teacher for the Lower School Preschool (3–4 year olds). The role emphasizes nurturing the whole child and collaboration, with a focus on diversity and inclusive education.

Work schedule is Monday–Friday, 2:30 pm–6:30 pm. Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education or related field preferred; strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education or a closely related field preferred.
• Prior experience teaching in a pre-primary and/or lower school is preferred.
• The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal skills, effective oral and written communication skills and experience working with active and collaborative instruction.
• Early childhood, literacy, numeracy, or specialty area experience are ideal.
• Familiarity with Quaker education and/or the Responsive Classroom approach to teaching would be advantageous.

• Support instruction and collaborate with lead teachers.
