YMCA of Dane County's Sun Prairie location is seeking part-time lifeguards for the Aquatics Department. Under the supervision of the Aquatics Director, you will monitor the pool, enforce safety rules, and respond to emergencies to keep members and guests safe.

This role suits substitute teachers, CNA, healthcare workers, or retirees; weekday afternoons (12:00pm–4:30pm), up to 15 hours weekly. Eligible candidates may receive free YMCA membership and training reimbursements.

Formación

• Must be at least 16 years old for opening shifts.
• Ability to demonstrate lifeguard skills per YMCA standards.
• Ability to communicate professionally with members, staff and supervisors; maintain confidentiality.

The Sun Prairie YMCA is looking to add some great lifeguards to our Aquatics Department. Under the supervision of the Aquatics Director, the Lifeguard actively provides a safe environment and accountability of all members and guests by maintaining constant surveillance of the pool area and responding to emergencies in accordance with the mission, strategic plan, goals and all policies and procedures of the YMCA of Dane County, Inc. and the Y-USA Best Practices.

This is an excellent opportunity for substitute teachers, CNA, healthcare workers, teacher aids, stay-at-home parents and retirees! Work for the YMCA and receive a free YMCA membership! We will pay for your training!

• Weekday afternoons, Monday through Friday (12:00pm-4:30pm)
• Part-time preferred; up to 15 hours per week!

Job Requirements:

• Must be at least 16 years old (for opening shifts)
• Requires ability to demonstrate lifeguard skills in accordance with YMCA standards.
• Requires ability to professionally and effectively communicate with members, staff and supervisors; maintain confidentiality and exchange accurate information.
• Requires ability to effectively interact with, lead, and motivate members who have a variety of abilities and needs.
• Required to work at least one scheduled shift during the week
• Possess or obtain within the indicated time frame the following certifications and keep all certifications current:
  • Current Red Cross Lifeguard/CPR/AED/First Aid certification
    • Not certified yet? Apply anyway! We’ll help you enroll in one of our Red Cross certification classes at the Y. Plus, we offer up to $250 reimbursement for certification fees (ask for details).
  • Y Orientation, Child Abuse Prevention, and Blood Borne Pathogen training required within 60 days of hire.
