Job summary

The Lifeguard role at YMCA of the Chippewa Valley supports the Aquatics team by supervising the pool area, ensuring safety, and assisting swimmers during open swim, water exercise, and lessons. This part-time position emphasizes strong customer service and teamwork to promote a safe, welcoming environment.

Applicants must be at least 15 years old and available to work between 5 and 29 hours weekly. Training and CPR/First Aid certifications provided as part of professional growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Must be 15 years old or older.
• Able to supervise the aquatics area to prevent accidents, assist swimmers, and respond to emergencies.
• Available 5–29 hours per week.
• Strong communication and listening skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee open swim, water exercise, swim lessons and lap swimming.
• Monitor activity to ensure safety and enforce YMCA policies.
• Respond promptly to emergencies and assist swimmers as needed.
• Create a positive, safe environment for members and participants.

About the Role

The Lifeguard is a key member of the Aquatics team that is responsible for supervising the aquatics area to prevent accidents, assist swimmers, and respond to emergencies. Each member of our Lifeguard team creates a safe, positive and enjoyable atmosphere, promoting member safety and satisfaction in accordance with the YMCA policies and procedures. A Lifeguard builds positive relationships with members and program participants through effective listening and verbal skills. You will oversee multiple activities including open swim, water exercise, swim lessons and lap swimming. Accepting Summer applicants!
