Job summary

YMCA of Columbia-Willamette, Inc. is hiring part-time for an after-school program in Hillsboro. The role involves supervising staff and volunteers, ensuring a safe, engaging environment for school-age children, and delivering a dynamic curriculum after school.

The position emphasizes building positive relationships with children, families, and the community, with opportunities for advancement and flexible scheduling. Travel to other YMCA sites may occur.

Qualifications

• Pass a YMCA Background Check.
• At least 240 hours of qualifying experience with school age children in the past five years, an Associates or higher degree in a related field, or a Step 6 on the Oregon Registry.
• Meet all Program Leader standards as dictated by the Oregon Department of Early Learning and Care.
• Current enrollment in the Oregon State Childcare Registry or ability to enroll prior to employment.
• CPR and First Aid certification or ability to obtain within 30 days.
• Food Handlers certification or ability to obtain within 30 days.

Responsibilities

• Supervise aides and volunteers under the Lead Teacher or Site Director.
• Maintain a safe and developmentally appropriate classroom environment.
• Implement a fun and engaging curriculum.
• Foster positive relationships with children, parents, and the school community.
• Occasionally travel to YMCA sites outside Portland to support programs.
• Attend company events when scheduled.
