Job summary

New York Edge, based in New York City, seeks a Part-Time Assistant Director to help administer the After-School Program under the supervision of the ASPD, including implementing enrichment activities, themed projects, scheduling, daily staff supervision, recordkeeping, parent communication, and organizing special events.

The position requires in-person work, fluency in Spanish and English, a BA or current progress toward one, and a pay rate of $25-$30 per hour.

Qualifications

• Fluent in Spanish and English.
• Experience teaching/instructing youth in academics, sports, or arts.
• Knowledge of NYC Department of Education and school operations.
• Able to work late afternoons/evenings in person.

Responsibilities

• Direct supervision of academic counselors and oversee the academic component.
• Plan enrichment activities and theme-based projects.
• Schedule activities and manage daily site operations.
• Supervise staff and ensure safety and behavior standards.
• Coordinate off-site trips and supervise during outings.
• Support project-based learning and culture/arts initiatives.
• Provide activity coverage and promote teamwork and sportsmanship.
• Communicate progress and challenges to the After-School Program Director.
• Ensure compliance with DYCD/DOE/DOHMH regulations and pandemic guidelines.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
