Job summary

Goldendale Middle School is seeking a Gear Up After School Math Tutor for 7th and 8th grade to provide targeted after-school math support and reinforce classroom instruction. This internal-only role is part-time, 3:15-4:15 PM, two hours per week, reporting to the Building Principal.

Candidates must be a certified teacher with experience teaching math, strong communication skills, and the ability to maintain records and contact with students.

• Experience teaching math.
• Ability to work with students.
• Willingness to continue education as opportunities provided through the school.
• Ability to keep accurate records and daily student contact.
• Good communication skills.
• Must be patient, compassionate, and persistent.
• Fingerprinting and background check required.

Responsibilities

• Support students in successful engagement.
• Provide individual and small-group math tutoring and academic support.
• Reinforce classroom instruction and assist students with assignments and skill development.
• Coordinate with teachers and school staff to identify students needing additional math support.
• Communicate with students, parents and staff in a variety of school settings.
• Supervise students in the classroom.
• Collect data and report student progress.
• Maintain accurate data collection records.
• Provide positive behavior management support.
• Adapt teaching methods to achieve student goals.
• Participate as a member of the education team.
• Other duties as assigned.
