Job summary

Peter Paul Development Center's Coleman Center After-School Academy serves students in grades 4–12 with daily core instruction and enrichment activities. The Lead Teacher develops lesson plans that include project-based learning and STEAM, and ensures a high-quality, safe experience for all students while maintaining professionalism and teamwork.

The position is part-time, hourly, typically 3:00pm–6:30pm, up to 20 hours per week, with additional planning, staff meetings, and training time.

Qualifications

• Candidates must be at least 18 years old.
• Bachelor's degree in child-related field or equivalent endorsement from a college or university.
• Alternatively, three months of programmatic experience with qualifying education backgrounds.
• Experience in designing and implementing lesson plans and maintaining records.

Responsibilities

• Create a classroom culture that encourages group thinking, curiosity and discovery.
• Collaborate with staff to design and implement daily lesson plans and activities.
• Implement daily expectations and behavior system.
• Commitment to total classroom engagement and safety.
• Communicate with parents/guardians and daytime teachers regularly.
• Participate in staff meetings and planning committees.
• Maintain accurate records (logs, incident reports, etc.).
• Pursue professional growth through training programs and conferences.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
• Provide COVID-19 vaccine documentation or exemption and wear a mask as required.
