Greater Somerset County YMCA in Hillsborough, NJ is seeking part-time Counselors for Before and After School programs. The role is on-site and requires cause-driven leaders who support youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.

Counseling staff will assist with activities, supervision, and a safe environment for children. The position emphasizes relationship-building with children and families, adherence to safety policies, and a collaborative team approach within a YMCA

Qualifikationen

• Must be at least 17 years of age.
• High School Diploma or Senior in High School required.
• Experience working with children in a structured group setting is required.
• Ability to learn and think quickly to solve child-to-child situations.
• Good communication skills and ability to relate to diverse groups.

Aufgaben

• Assist with implementation of a varied and challenging program of activities for children (Homework Time, Enrichment Activities, Organized Physical Activities, Free Play, Snack Time).
• Assist Site Supervisor with supervision of all children on the site.
• Build relationships with children and families and greet them positively each day.
• Maintain discipline with children under the policy and code of conduct.
• Assist Site Supervisor with motivating and encouraging all children to participate in activities.
• Provide a safe environment and follow all safety procedures in case of emergency.
• Help develop an attractive, organized, clean, and stimulating space: clean and disinfect equipment regularly, maintain site/room, and set up/clean before and after use.
• Keep Site Supervisor apprised of situations requiring attention related to children’s behavior.
