Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old and meet BFTS staff qualification requirements for school-age care.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; CDA, TCC, or related coursework in child development preferred.
• At least 1 year of experience with children in a licensed childcare or after-school program preferred.
• Must pass a comprehensive background check and fingerprinting through DECAL/BFTS; CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
• Ability to relate to children and their families with warmth, patience, and professionalism.

Responsibilities

• Provide active supervision of children in all areas, following BFTS active supervision standards at all times.
• Implement developmentally appropriate activities that promote social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development.
• Maintain attendance records and ensure authorized pick-up procedures are followed.
• Serve snacks in accordance with CACFP and program policies.
• Assist children with homework, reading, or enrichment activities as needed.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment that complies with BFTS safety and sanitation regulations.
• Report injuries, behavioral issues, or incidents to the supervisor and complete required documentation.
• Communicate positively and professionally with parents and staff.
• Attend staff meetings and training sessions required by BFTS licensing and the program.
• Follow policies and procedures outlined in staff handbook and BFTS guidelines.

This role includes supervising students, assisting with homework, facilitating recreational activities, and maintaining compliance with all Bright from the Start: Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning (DECAL) regulations.
