Job summary

Pima Community College’s Social Sciences Division is seeking part-time/temporary instructors to teach African American Studies courses for the 2026-27 year and beyond. Instructors may teach online or with flexible hours while supporting a diverse student body.

Qualifications include a Master’s in Africana Studies or related field (or Master’s plus 18 graduate hours), or a terminal degree in a related field. Experience with D2L Brightspace and diverse instructional modalities is preferred.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Africana Studies or related field.
• Master’s degree in any discipline plus 18 graduate hours in Africana Studies.
• Terminal degree in related field where dissertation is in primary field.

Responsibilities

• Instruct students and help them achieve academic success.
• Follow protocols for presence, responsiveness, grading, attendance, and assessment.
• Use effective classroom management techniques.
• Monitor and improve instruction to meet Student Learning Outcomes.
• Evaluate student performance.
• Continually improve instruction with appropriate delivery methods.
• Maintain currency in teaching field and methods.
• Collaborate with faculty, staff and students with a collegial communication style.
