The Home for Little Wanderers/Wediko NY is seeking a part-time Advocate Counselor, three days a week (24 hours a week) at the High School for Hospitality Management in Manhattan. This position focuses on supporting students who are struggling academically, behaviorally, and who have a history of poor attendance.

Qualifications

• 1+ years' experience providing direct services in school-based settings.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills in English.
• Ability to approach challenges in a supportive and creative manner.
• Commitment to working from a strengths-based perspective.
• Commitment to ongoing learning and development; use of supervision to improve practice.

Responsabilités

• Provides individual and group mentoring to students on a weekly basis.
• Outreach to students and families via phone, written correspondence, and home visits.
• Facilitates communication between students, families, and school staff.
• Completes required documentation in a timely manner.
• Provides crisis support, conflict mediation and social-emotional support.
• Completes regular assessments and provides resource referrals with site manager support.
• Ensures exposure to college and career readiness opportunities.
