Job summary

Wediko seeks a Part-time bilingual Youth Mentor/Advocate Counselor for New Directions Secondary School in The Bronx.

The Advocate Counselor supports 9th–12th grade students with mentoring, attendance outreach, home visits, crisis intervention, and social‑emotional support, while maintaining data and collaborating with school staff.

The position is 24 hours per week (September–June), with potential for additional hours and evening events as needed.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in social sciences; Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred.
• 1+ year(s) experience providing direct services in school-based or residential settings.
• Knowledge of attendance outreach best practices.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and manage related data.
• Provide weekly individual and group mentoring to students.
• Conduct attendance outreach and resource referrals.
• Engage families with ongoing feedback to support academic success.
• Collaborate with school staff to create individualized student plans.
• Attend professional development opportunities and participate in staff meetings.
