Job summary

MUSC Community Physicians in South Carolina is seeking a compassionate Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant for a part-time role in a correctional health care setting at the Lexington County Detention Center. You will work with an experienced multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care to an underserved population.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program and currently licensed or eligible for licensure as a Physician Assistant
• or Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program and currently licensed or eligible for licensure as an APRN

Responsibilities

• Friday’s 8am-4:30pm or Tuesday and Friday 8am-12pm
• Outpatient
• Evaluates and treats on the basis of history, physical examination, radiological, laboratory, and other diagnostic test results pursuant to the practice agreement or scope of practice guideline
• Initiates referrals to other health care providers, and/or consults with the attending physician or the collaborating physician
• Documents and bills for direct care provided
• Potential to precept students at MUSC enrolled as an advanced practice provider student; and facilitates the learning of other new team members
• Perform patient evaluations, consultations, and procedural planning
• Obtain informed consent and educate patients on procedures
• Perform procedures within APP scope of practice
