Job summary

TCAT Northwest Ripley Branch Campus is seeking a Part-Time Daytime Adult Education Instructor. The role involves teaching, registration/intake services, and delivering IET programming to adult learners. This is a grant-funded position requiring adaptability and strong communication skills.

The instructor will plan and assess lessons, support student resumes, assist with registration, and coordinate with the Leadership Team to promote student progression. This is a part-time daytime role.

Qualifications

• Baccalaureate in Education or related field is required.
• Office Skills: Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Excel) and ability to learn other software.
• Effective and excellent communication, both orally and in writing.
• Participate in local and state activities/staff development.

Responsibilities

• Plan, teach and evaluate student work and provide instruction.
• Deliver integrated Education and Training (IET) programming combining adult basic skills with workforce development.
• Accept responsibility and be self-motivated.
• Demonstrate the ability to multi-task.
• Develop and implement a recruitment plan to inform the target population of services and attract adult learners.
• Assist students with resumes and job applications.
• Assist with student registration, assessment, orientation/counseling.
• Administer and interpret HiSET and TABE scores for placement and instruction.
• Administer and interpret CASAS scores for placement and instruction.
• Maintain confidential program and student files and sign-in sheets.
• Work with Leadership Team to support progression through National Reporting System levels.
• Maintain technical knowledge and time-and-effort documentation.
• Pursue classroom improvement based on program goals.
• Post-test all students after 40 hours of instruction.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Tennessee College of Applied Technology Northwest is accepting applications for a part-time Adult Education Instructor at the TCAT Northwest Ripley Branch Campus. The instructor interacts with students and provides instruction and registration/intake-related services for potential and current students. This is a grant-funded position.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Plan, teach and evaluate student work and provide instruction.
• Deliver contextualized Integrated Education and Training (IET) programming combining adult basic skills with workforce development.
• Accept responsibility and be self-motivated.
• Demonstrate the ability to multi-task.
• Develop and implement a recruitment plan that informs the target population of program services and attracts prospective adult learners.
• Assist students with resumes and job applications.
• Assist with student registration, assessment, orientation/counseling.
• Administer and interpret scores on HiSET and TABE exams for student placement and instruction.
• Administer and interpret scores for CASAS and HiSET OPT exams for student placement and instruction.
• Organize and maintain confidential program and student files and report documentation, including maintaining correct student sign-in sheets.
• Work with Leadership Team to develop a program that supports students' progression through the National Reporting System levels – ensuring level gains.
• Maintain technical knowledge by engaging in opportunities to improve or increase skills.
• Maintaining time and effort documentation.
• Work toward classroom improvement based on program goals.
• Post-test all students after 40 hours of instruction.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
