Job summary

Punahou School in Honolulu seeks a part-time Admissions Tour Guide to warmly welcome prospective families and showcase our kindergarten classrooms and the surrounding neighborhood.

You will conduct guided tours, hold individual family meetings, coordinate scheduling, and serve as a frontline ambassador, while maintaining confidentiality and aligning with school policies. The position runs 9 months, Tue–Thu 7:30 AM–12:30 PM, at $30.00 per hour.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education, experience and training.
• Three years work experience in an independent school environment, preferably in admissions.
• Warm and hospitable speaking and written communication skills.
• Aptitude for and comfort level with technology. Including a familiarity with online applications, video.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and facilitate an equitable admissions experience.
• Possess a collaborative, go-getter attitude to partner effectively and efficiently with members of the Financial Aid and Admissions Team, faculty, administrators, and other school departments.
• A positive outlook and genuine desire to collaborate with families.

Responsibilities

• Conduct Guided Tours: Clearly articulate the features of the kindergarten classrooms and neighborhood, engaging with the audience to make the information relatable and interesting.
• Individual Family Meetings: After the tour, sit down with families to discuss their questions and concerns, providing thoughtful responses.
• Scheduling and Coordination: Manage the timing of tours and subsequent individual meetings efficiently to ensure that each family receives adequate attention and that the day’s schedule runs smoothly.
• Representing the School: Serve as a frontline ambassador for the school, embodying its values and ethos during interactions with prospective families.
• Confidentiality and Discretion: Handle sensitive information about prospective students and families with confidentiality and integrity.
