Alvin College is accepting applications for a Part-Time Faculty Pool to deliver instruction in our Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) Arts & Sciences programs. The pool is for assignments during the academic year; transcripts for all degrees conferred must be uploaded.

Flexible work schedules, travel to Alvin campus and offsite locations may be required. Fingerprinting is a condition. International credentials must be evaluated per NACES guidelines.

Qualifications

• Master's degree with 18 graduate semester hours in theoretical or applied biological sciences or life sciences from a regionally accredited college / university
• Master's degree with 18 graduate semester hours in Geology from a regionally accredited college / university
• Master's degree with 18 graduate semester hours in History or American Civilization from a regionally accredited college / university
• Master's degree with 18 graduate semester hours in Philosophy from a regionally accredited college / university
• Master's degree with 18 graduate semester hours in Physics or closely related physical science from a regionally accredited college / university
• Master's degree with 18 graduate semester hours in Psychology from a regionally accredited college / university
• Master's degree with 18 graduate semester hours in Speech or Communication from a regionally accredited college / university

Responsibilities

• Teach freshmen and sophomore level courses to college students in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ).
• Attend a 7-hour in-person Pre-Service TDCJ security training, located in Huntsville, TX.
• Submit annual In-Service Training via online.
• Instructs and supervise a diverse population of students in the classroom at various times and locations.
• Assist in the recruitment and retention of students.
• Advises students in academic matters or refers students to appropriate resources.
• Assists in the development, distribution and collection of assessments for courses and program objectives.
• Builds positive and professional relationship with students, colleagues, college administration, and the community.
