Job summary

Alvin College seeks part-time faculty for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) program to support classes and students across assignments during the academic year.

The role includes teaching Mental Health courses, completing security training in Huntsville, developing syllabi and assessments, and engaging students with a variety of instructional methods while adhering to college policies.

Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Human Services with current licensure (LCDC, LPC, or LCSW) and at least 3 years of non-teaching experience.
• Must pass a criminal background check by TDCJ.
• Experience with interactive teaching methods and internet-based instruction.

Responsibilities

• Teach Mental Health courses to college students in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ).
• Attend a 7-hour in-person Pre-Service TDCJ security training, located in Huntsville, TX.
• Submit annual In-Service Training via online system.
• Instruct and supervise a diverse population of students in the classroom at various times and locations.
• Advise students and assist in recruitment/retention and ensure instructional excellence.
